Once upon a time there was a tavern 
Where we used to raise 
a glass or two.
Remember 
how we laughed away the hours; 
Think of all the great things 
we would do. 
Those were the days my friend- 
We thought they'd never end. 
We'd sing and dance 
forever and a day. 
We'd live the life we'd choose. 
We'd fight and never lose 
For we were young 
and sure to have our way.

Those were the days, 
oh yes, those were the days 
Then the busy years 
went rushing by us. 
We lost our starry notions on the way. 
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern, 
We'd smile at one another 
and we'd say... 
Just tonight I stood before the tavern. 
Nothing seemed the way it used to be. 
In the glass I saw a strange reflection- 
Was that lonely woman really me? 
Through the door 
there came familiar laughter. 
I saw your face 
and heard you call my name. 
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser, 
For in our hearts 
the dreams are still the same...  
 
옛날에 
우리가 가끔 술 한두잔 하던 
술집이 하나 있었지.
우리가 얼마나 많은 시간을 
그렇게 웃으며 지냈는지 기억해봐.
우리가 했던 
그 소중한 일들을 생각해봐.
참 좋았던 시절이었지. 친구
우리는 그 시간들이 계속될 줄 알았지
영원히 노래하고 춤출 수 있을 줄 알았어
우리가 선택한 삶을 살게 될거라 믿었고
싸우서 절대 지지 않을 거라고 생각했지..
우린 어려서 우리의 길을 확신 했던 거지.

참 좋았던 시절이었지..
그래 참 좋았어.
그뒤 숨가쁜 시간들이 
우리를 스쳐 지나갔고
그 속에서 우리는 
그 빛나던 의지들을 잃어버렸지.
만약 우연히 그 술집에서 
너를 다시 보게 되다면
우리는 
서로에게 미소를 보내곤 말하겠지..
나는 오늘 밤 그 술집앞에 서있어.
모든게 변했어.
술잔 속에서 나는 
낳설은 얼굴을 봤어.
저 외로워 보이는 여자가 
정말 나란 말인가.
문 뒤로 귀익은 웃음소리가 들렸지
내 이름을 부르는 너의 목소리와 얼굴.
오. 나의 친구.
우린 그냥 늙기만 했어.
우리 가슴에는 
아직 같은 꿈이 살아있으니까.
