You've Got A Friend

 
1942년 2월 9일 브룩클린 태생의 캐롤 킹은
최고의 여성 싱어송라이터 중의 하나로 평가받고 있다. 
1971년에 내놓은 2집 앨범 "Tapestry" 는 
팝 음악사에서 손꼽는 명반으로 기록되는 작품이다. 
이 앨범은 1971년 발표된 이래 빌보드 차트 1위 자리를 15주간이나 유지했고 
차트에 5년 가까운 302주간 머무는 대기록을 남겼다. 
그래미상에서 '올해의 앨범' 등 4개 부문의 트로피를 그녀에게 안겨주었고
첫 싱글 'It's Too Late' 는 싱글 차트에서 5주 연속 1위를 기록했다. 
세련된 창법을 구사하는 것도 아니고 
빼어난 보컬리스트라곤 결코 할 수 없는 
그녀의 노래가 전해주는 감동은 
직접 음미해보지 않고는 깨닫기 힘든 것인데 
그녀의 노래는 수많은 가수들에 의해 리메이크된 팝의 명곡들이 많다.
